Happy New Year

We went to Make Believe Midnight at the Children's Museum on New Year's Eve. There was a ball drop and balloon drop at 8:00! Grace had a blast. She especially liked the bubble wrap stomp! There was fresh bubble wrap every 20 minutes all night long!

Rudolph Cupcakes

We made these cupcakes for Christmas Eve at Great Grandma Beil's.

Christmas

This was the haul Grace got at Grammy and Grandpa's. Poor deprived child...

Santa got her a kitchen. She got a little scared when we told her Santa had come to her house but she quickly warmed up to the idea that she was getting presents!

Santa also gave her food for her kitchen!

Her stocking was filled with little Sesame Street figures and a little fire truck!

"Look Dad, I got Snuffy!"

"Grammy, you'll never guess who came to my house and ate my cookies..."

Check out Grace's new apron from Great Grandma Davie!

First Movie!

Grace went to her first movie at the theater! It was a sold out show, which we didn't expect, so we ended up in the front row. She did a great job. She made it through more than half the movie. We didn't know what to expect so we were thrilled she sat for an hour. We saw Alvin and the Chipmunks {or the first half anyways}.

Little Shopper

Grace was shopping and the bakery lady gave her a cookie. Grace wasn't sure how to push her cart AND eat a cookie at the same time. When she pushed with one hand her cart went in circles. She finally figured out to steer with her elbows!

Squirt Bottle

Every Christmas we break out the squirt bottle to keep the cat out of the presents. Grace gets immense joy out of seeing Tabby get squirted. It worries me a little that she takes pleasure from Tabby's discomfort but I suppose it's similar to the joy I used to feel when my brother got in trouble as a kid. Anyways... We told Grace that we ONLY squirt Tabby when she's eating the presents. Earlier this evening I caught Grace with a wrapped package chasing Tabby around the house. It took me a moment but I finally realized what she was doing! That little stinker was trying to force Tabby to "eat" the package so she could squirt her!!! We had to explain that we don't get to squirt Tabby if we set her up like that! Nice try though, Grace!

Exhibit C

Yet another example of Grace's organizing... After wrapping the gifts she picked out for her friends at church I told her she could put them under her little tree. This is what she did!!

Christmas Baking

Grace and her stuffed puppy helped Mommy bake cookies!

This baker got a little side tracked and Mommy found her reading in her room. Maybe she was looking up a new recipe!

First Pedicure!

Grace went with me to pick up a gift certificate for Aunt Lindsay's graduation from nursing school. While we were there I asked the ladies if they would paint Grace's toe nails. I was hoping she would sit stiller for them than she does for me and maybe the ladies would do a better job of getting the paint on her toe nails vs all over her toes. Not only did they paint them, but they also added a snowflake design to each of her big toes.

Super Grace!

Friday when I got Grace after school she was wearing her red "cape". I needed to go to a few stores so I asked her if we could leave the cape at home. Of course the answer was, "No!" So she wore her cape to Hy Vee, Kohls, and the bank! We got several comments on how nice it was that I had a super hero to help me with my shopping!

Christmas Photos

We went to get our photos takes during a crazy snow storm. We bribed Grace by telling her if she smiled and played the "picture game" that she could go see Santa after we were done. We didn't realize Santa wasn't there on Thursday evenings. A promise is a promise so we ended up driving {in the snow storm} out to Gateway Mall on the other side of town to see Santa. At least we got GREAT photos out of the bribe!

Santa

Grace couldn't wait to see Santa! For days she has been saying that she's going to tell Santa that she wants a baby doll and a guitar. When the time came though.... she FREAKED!! She wouldn't sit on his lap and refused to talk to him. We were lucky to get her to unbury her head long enough to take this photo. After we took the photo he gave her a candycane and then she thought he was alright. She gave him a five and even hugged him! See you on Christmas, Santa!

Exhibit B

Here is another example (exhibit B) of my daughter's tendency to be slightly compulsive in terms of organization. She lines up all her little people before she plays with them.

First BIG Snow

Grace knows what snow is from all her books but she doesn't remember snow from last year because she was so young. She was sooooo excited to wake up Saturday morning and find the snow coming down. Later we went over to Grammy and Grandpa's and went sledding. She could barely see out of her Elmo hat but she had a blast.

Perfectionist

Grace took Mommy to story time at the public library Monday evening. They made trains. All the other toddlers randomly glued train cars on their page. Then there was Grace... Hers had to go in a perfectly straight line and she redid several of the cars if they overlapped too much. Can we say perfectionist? I wonder where she got that trait?

Grace's Christmas Gift

We ordered this for Grace for Christmas. We got it from Walmart and all the reviews say kids LOVE it! I can't wait for Christmas to get here to give it to her! The only thing I'm wondering about is if she'll even know what that old fashioned phone thing is. We only have cell phones and a small cordless phone for a land line. She'll probably look at the phone on a cord and push buttons and wonder what in the world you do with that!
