Grace's New Toy
Daddy found Grace a new toy at the store tonight. It was on clearance for $1.39. It's the simple things in life that bring us such joy...
Messy Eater!
Two Word Sentence
Grace said her first two word sentence. She has signed two or three words together but not said more than one word at a time before. She said "Daddy's News." She wanted to watch Spongebob and said "Spongebob?" I told her he was sleeping so we couldn't watch right now. She looked at the TV and said "Daddy's News!" I said, "Yes! Daddy is watching the news so we'll watch Spongebob later!"
Of all the cartoons for her to obsess over I can't believe she has latched onto Spongebob! I've tried to turn on the Backyardigans, Sesame Street, etc. All she wants is Spongebob!

Elmo Likes Cookies!
Grace got a new Elmo hat from Walmart today. She thinks it's funny and put it on right out of the bath tonight. Grace's new favorite word is "cookie" pronounced "coooooook...EE" After every meal she asks for a cookie! Apparently that's the routine at Grammy's and she's decided that it needs to be the routine here too. The other morning she woke up super early and Jacob went in to get her from her crib and she looked at Jacob and said, "coooook...EE??" Later that day I was coming home from the store and I heard Jacob ask her, "Gracie, who's coming?" She replied, "coooook...EE??" To her disappointment it was just Mommy!
How You Know You Have a 16 Month Old!
It appears as though she entered the bathroom with intentions of looking for us to read her a book... It also appears that she got sidetracked from her original intent...
Grace turned 16 months old today. I was thinking about all the ways our life has changed over the past 16 months... all for the better... some funny... some crazy... but we wouldn't take it back for anything! Here are the top ten ways you know you have a 16 month old in the house:
#10 Toilet paper isn't limited to the bathroom {see photos above}
#9 As a result of #10 you now get toilet paper from a plastic bag hanging from the toilet dispenser vs. from a roll.
#8 It isn't uncommon to find your cell phone in the shower... or for that matter the remote, sippy cups, legos, etc.
#7 You find random pieces of cheese laying around the house. {Grace's new trick is to store food in her cheeks so you think she's done eating but later she takes it out and lays it wherever she is.}
#6 You find yourself spelling certain words like "cookie" and "ice-cream" even when the child isn't around because you're so used to avoiding those words.
#5 Your living room is no longer filled with decorative objects and plants but instead has been taken over by Fisher Price little people, a ball pit, a cozy coop {because it's too cold to ride it outside}, and puzzle pieces.
#4 The words "uh-oh" and "no-no" are no longer used after something bad happens but now precede something bad that's about to happen. {It's nice she gives us a warning! For example she'll say "uh-oh" and then throw food off her tray}
Speaking of throwing food off the tray...
#3 You have to scrub the floor after every meal.
#2 You only serve spaghetti for dinner if you have time to give a bath immediately following dinner. {While your spouse scrubs the floor!}
#1 You house is filled with more joy, laughter, and love than you have ever known!
